Five apps let merchants build general Shopify Functions without code. Four charge $29 to $399 per month and offer free use only on development stores. SMART Functions Creator is free on live stores with no rule cap. The paid apps have things we do not, notably AI rule drafting and, in one case, a built-in tester; this page lists both sides.

Where SMART Functions Creator is the better fit

• You want the logic Shopify Scripts used to provide, on a Basic, Grow, or Advanced store, without a monthly fee.
• You need many rules. The app does not meter rule count, AND/OR logic, or metafield conditions, which rule-specialist apps often gate behind higher tiers.
• You want your rule checked before it goes live. Fast support in the app chat builds and reviews rules with you.
• You want line item property, metafield, subscription, customer order count, and cart attribute conditions on every plan.

Where another app may fit better

• You want to describe a rule in plain language and get a draft. SupaEasy, Nexus, and Function Studio offer AI drafting; we do not offer it to merchants today.
• You want a built-in cart simulator. Function Studio lists one on a paid tier; we test with real carts and support.
• You need to import or export rules between stores. PowerX lists staging import and export; ours is on the roadmap, not shipped.
• You need custom code executed. No public app is allowed to run merchant-written function code; SupaEasy works around this with a hosted custom app, at its higher tiers.

Things every builder shares

All five run inside Shopify's Functions limits: 25 active discounts and 25 active customizations per API, a 10 KB configuration per function, and Shopify's discount combination rules. None can reject a discount code with a custom message, add a free gift to the cart, discount by payment method, or hide the main credit card option on a non-Plus store in the United States or Canada.
